From deep within the Echo Season sound lab emerges Catalyst, a meticulously crafted soundset for the Waldorf Iridium. Catalyst provides a potent alchemy of sonic timbres to add to your mix, and serves as an inspiring element to jump start your creativity. While it orbits around the Ambient/Psybient sphere, it takes a few excursions into IDM, Berlin School, Liquid DnB, and Synthwave. Producers of any genre can expect to find useful and exciting patches that can breathe new life into a track.
Catalyst features 115 lovingly handcrafted patches that range from lush ephemeral pads and deeply immersive soundscapes, to massive subsonic basses and intricate sequences. Also contained are juicy resonant basslines, 303 inspired leads, delicate and vibrant plucks, gentle keys, as well as smooth bells and rich vintage synths.
The Iridium’s clear and crystalline sound is on full display, with each patch volume balanced and mix ready. All patches feature Velocity, Aftertouch and Modwheel, as well as X/Y pad assignments. Each patch is sorted by Waldorf’s factory categories. In addition, extensive modulations guarantee a multitude of permutations and invite you to twist and tweak to create your own variations.
Catalyst requires Iridium v3.0.1 and 17.7 MB of storage space. It references some factory sample content for granular patches and eschews samples from the download to keep it fast and small. Factory sample content can be re-obtained at Waldorf’s website. Patches were designed without Bass Boost. Catalyst is compatible with the Iridium Keyboard and Waldorf Quantum.
Check out the demo video below featuring a track using sounds taken exclusively from the set (except drums and a single noise sweep). A brief patch play-through is also available for listening.
